The Gantt Center was designed by Phil Frelon, the same architect that designed the National Museum of African American History in Washington DC.

Johnson C. Smith University

JCSU, an HBCU in the Historic West End, was founded by the Presbyterian Church to educate black men in the ministry post Civil War. Today it is still an important part of Charlottes future.
